Space Rental
Terms & Conditions
Guests
We do not host children’s parties. Children under 1 year old and over 12 years old are welcome in the space.
Payments, Deposits & Liability
A £100 security deposit is required to secure the venue. This deposit is refundable within 2 weeks after the event, provided the venue is left in good condition and all house rules have been followed. If the booking is cancelled, the deposit is non-refundable.
For full-day bookings, hiring both floors, recurring events, or activities that could cause additional wear and tear (such as painting, craft workshops, or food-related events), The Hearth may request an additional security deposit.
Full payment of the hire fee is due 30 days before the event.
The client is liable for any damage, loss, breach of house rules, or excessive cleaning required as a result of their use of the venue. Should the cost of repair or cleaning exceed the security deposit, The Hearth reserves the right to charge the client’s card on file for the outstanding balance. A breakdown of charges will be provided in such cases.
Cancellations & Refunds
Cancellations made more than 30 days before the event: full refund of the hire fee (excluding the non-refundable deposit).
Cancellations made 15–29 days before the event: 50% of the hire fee refunded.
Cancellations made within 14 days of the event: no refund.
Hirers that overrun the agreed booking time may incur additional charges.
Rebooking
Rebooking is allowed within 3 months of the original event date, provided notice is given at least 30 days in advance.
If notice is given less than 30 days before the event, the booking will be treated as a full cancellation. In this case, the deposit is non-refundable and the full hire fee remains payable.
HOUSE RULES
Smoking is prohibited in space.
Pets: While we do love our furry friends, pets are not allowed in the space.
Decoration Guidelines: You may bring your own decorations (flowers/balloons on a weight etc), but you may not stick things on the wall or hang things off the fixtures.
Alcohol: Guests may bring their own alcohol for personal consumption (dry hire only). The sale of alcohol by hirers or guests is not permitted. Alcohol may only be sold by The Hearth. We reserve the right to stop alcohol consumption if behaviour becomes unsafe or disruptive.
Clean-Up Requirements: The place needs to be given in the same condition as it was found during the check-in. All decorations, food, drinks, and rubbish need to be removed. If you are hiring our cutlery & crockery, please put them in the dishwasher in our kitchen. You can opt in for a post-event cleaning service for £40 and we’ll take care of everything.
Trash Disposal: Bags of rubbish can be left on the pavement outside the building. Your event coordinator will assist you.
Cooking: Cooking of food isn’t allowed in the space.

Alcohol Policy
For dry hire events, guests may bring their own alcohol.
The event organiser is responsible for ensuring alcohol is consumed responsibly and in accordance with UK licensing laws.
The sale of alcohol by the hirer or their guests is strictly prohibited. Alcohol may only be sold by The Hearth, unless a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) has been obtained by the hirer/organiser and approved by the local council.
The Hearth reserves the right to stop alcohol consumption if behaviour becomes unsafe, disruptive, or in breach of venue rules.
Noise & Neighbours
The Hearth is located within a residential area. We kindly ask that guests are respectful of our neighbours when arriving, leaving, and during the event.
Music levels must remain at a reasonable level throughout the event.
Guests should leave the venue quietly, particularly during evening events.
The Hearth reserves the right to reduce music levels or end an event early if noise complaints are received.
Setup & Access
Set up and take down for both dry hire and wet hire must be included within your hired period.
Based on your booking form and preferred layout, our team will arrange the space before you arrive. You’ll just need to add final touches, such as table setup, decorations, or a backdrop.
Unloading can be done directly in front of the venue.
We don't have a parking space outside the space as Lonsdale is a private road, however, there is pay and display parking on the streets surrounding us.
Sunday bookings: Lonsdale Road is closed from 8am–3pm, so vehicle access is only before 8am or after 3pm. The Sunday Hearth Market runs from 10am–2pm outside, but the indoor space is exclusively reserved for your event.
Music & Equipment
We have a sound system, and you can play music via Spotify.
A projector is available for use.
