Our Inspiration
Janet Carsten’s anthropological book, The Heat of The Hearth, explored social relationships in a small Malayan fishing village. There, kinship between women wasn’t formed at birth, but defined through shared experiences. Women were bonded by living, birthing, feeding and grieving together.
